In 1947, Leo J. Leo, Sr. opened a grocery store in La Joya, Texas. After opening three stores, he passed on his legacy to his sons.
At 28 years old, Leo J. Leo, Jr. opened his first Leo’s Drive In location at 1114 E. Palma Vista Drive in Palmview, Texas. Thus keeping alive the tradition that his father started. Opened in 1982 it remained open until 2004 when the main highway was expanded and reduced traffic to this location.
The second Leo’s Drive In location was opened in 1991 on La Homa and 495 in Mission, TX. This new location would be the first to be fully equipped with a bbq pit outside. This was an introduction to the Lone Star Mesquite Grill that so many love today.
Leo’s Drive In continued to expand in the following years with its third location opened at 495 and Inspiration Road in Mission, Texas in 2000, its fourth location in 2002, the fifth location in 2004, and its sixth location in 2012.
Leo’s Drive In continues today as a non-franchised, family-owned company with family values way of doing business. Delivering the best tasting bbq, Krispy Krunch Chicken, and coldest beverages in the Rio Grande Valley.
